Anna A. Aguilar earned her Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law in Valparaiso, Indiana, where her commitment to the legal world nurtured and flourished. While in law school, Ms. Aguilar was part of the Phi Alpha Delta, Halleck Chapter, Law Fraternity and the Latino/Latina Law Student Association, organizations in which Ms. Aguilar held board positions. Following graduation and the bar exam, Ms. Aguilar was then sworn in and admitted to practice law in Illinois by the Illinois Supreme Court.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Aguilar attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Italian. Throughout her life, Ms. Aguilar has had a passion and desire to help people, inspiring her to join the national service fraternity of Alpha Phi Omega, during her undergraduate years at Illinois, allowing Ms. Aguilar to continue to provide services and assist those in the Urbana-Champaign community. Furthermore, Ms. Aguilar was a member of the national honor society, Chi Alpha Epsilon.

It was during Ms. Aguilar's studies as a political science major that she began her journey into the legal field. Ms. Aguilar worked as a summer intern at Chicago-based Coordinated Advice and Referral Program for Legal Services (CARPLS) where she was exposed to the daily struggles people undergo in various court matters and the need for accessible legal information. Ms. Aguilar's exceptionally high EQ (Emotional Intelligence) and her bilingual skills of English and Spanish proved to be invaluable with the Cook County population.

During her summers, Ms. Aguilar continued to increase her knowledge of various legal matters during her time with CARPLS and it was there that she delved deeper in the world of family law. Being a first generation college graduate born to Mexican parents, family law and immigration law always called to Ms. Aguilar. During the summers of law school, Ms. Aguilar worked at an immigration non-profit firm in the Northern suburbs of Chicago, assisting in family-based immigration petitions, focusing primarily on U-Visas and petitions for those immigrants who were victims of various crimes.

  • Ms. Aguilar successfully obtained the financial obligation the court had awarded her client and secured the necessary financial assistance to ensure the minor child was able to continue his college education.
  • Ms. Aguilar obtained a retroactive child support order for her client beyond the time limitation imposed by statute after demonstrating that the non-custodial parent continuously evaded a child support obligation for years by continuously moving and/or changing jobs.
